While attendance at today's meeting was light, we were not plagued by technical difficulties during recording and came to a decision about our presence on CodePlex. First, though, we triaged some bugs...
Issue triage
UtilCompiler.cs setting Identifier to a row[], from @nick2893, looks like a fairly simple typo (code-o?) in WiX v4.0, which Rob volunteered to fix.
Support for IIs Handler Mappings (fix BUGBUG: For compat we are assuming these are all ISAPI MODULES), from @cobexer, is a feature request for new functionality around some IIS things that I, frankly, found fascinating to hear about. We agreed it would be a great feature in WiX v4.0.
(MS-RL) LICENSE.TXT not included in wix3*-binaries.zip, from @megaposer, points out that the WiX license is not included in the WiX binaries .zip release. That's an oversight, which I volunteered to fix.
WiX bundle splash screen should use new logo, from @barnson, came up when I discovered that the splash screen shown when the WiX bundle is starting up contains the old WiX logo instead of the shiny new logo. I volunteered to fix it, with Rob providing pixels.
util:DirectorySearch for Systems32 folder fails in Bundle, from @NPatch, reports a problem with Burn not handling file-system redirection on a 64-bit system. We came to a different conclusion during the meeting but after, I decided this was a real issue and took it into WiX v3.x.
CodePlex
Over the holidays, WiX releases on CodePlex were tagged as malicious by multiple browsers. Since our last meeting, CodePlex did the magic to get off the naughty list and downloads are again available. That reduced the urgency to choose an alternate download location. However, the amount of time that downloads were blocked has encouraged us to think about what we do for future WiX releases. The plan right now is to ship all future milestone releases as releases on GitHub, starting with WiX v3.11. There are no plans to move weekly releases off of wixtoolset.org.
